Dear Parents / Carers
Update on Free School Meals
On Wednesday 1st April the government announced the National FSM voucher service for families. This is a service available to families in place of food hampers which have previously been provided by school meal providers and delivered by Walkley staff to our Free School Meal families. The voucher scheme operates during term time only and, so, for most Sheffield schools on holiday this week and next, it will take effect in Sheffield after the Easter weekend. Walkley staff will be delivering the food hampers this Wednesday (8th April) as usual.

In accordance with current Government guidelines on Covid-19, people should only be travelling into Sheffield city centre for essential travel only, such as key workers accessing their workplace.
Car parks in the city centre managed by Sheffield City Council are now free to use for key workers, as identified by the Government. This includes all off-street parking owned by the Council. The new policy will be in place until 13th April, when it will be reviewed. The full list of participating car parks is available in the Sheffield City Council news room. Find out more here

Rainbows are used as a symbol of peace and hope as they often appear when the sun follows a heavy rainfall. Children all over the country have been putting rainbows on their house windows to cheer up passers by and offer hope for the future.
Today our Walkley staff have been working with our key worker pupils to make a large rainbow on the school gates. It's fantastic, take a look.
Hi everyone
The builders have still been on site this week, working safely to continue with the new build. Having completed the steel structure last week they have been working to install the first floor to the building. You can see the progress through these pictures. It's very exciting to think that when we do come back together, we will have this to look forward to.
In other news, the time capsules arrived at school today, ready for filling with your wonderful ideas. We will keep you posted on this in the coming weeks.
Take care of each other everyone. Thanks so much for your kind messages and well wishes, we do miss you.
Dear parents of Walkley Primary School

Dear parents / carers
Please find attached information from our Sheffield Public Health Director, Greg Fell about social distancing as a family and keeping healthy during these uncertain times.
Hello Walkley families,
We hope you are keeping well. The children have been provided with a daily diet timetable, a Lockdown Learning Log or EYFS Lockdown Learning Log and teaching opportunities on the Class Blog.
Updates on the Class Blogs will cease on Friday 27th March, therefore, work will not be provided over the Easter holidays. Rest assured they will reappear on Tuesday 14th April. I would like my staff to rest where possible as we continue to provide childcare to our key worker families over the Easter break, although requested places have reduced significantly.
Hopefully with a bit of recuperation, we will be back online on the 14th April offering more entertaining and quality education through the Class Blogs. Until then, if you are struggling to keep your children entertained over the 2 week break, here are some helpful suggestions:
Fun things to do at home with your kids
There cannot be a prouder Headteacher in the country of this amazing and close knit team who rise together in the face of adversity and are part of such a strong and supportive community.
Thank you for your overwhelming messages of support that keep us going and keep our morale high. We miss you too. As every day passes we become another step nearer to meeting up again. Take care
Big Hugs
Mrs Sian and the Walkley team
In these strange times when we're being asked to stay indoors, it's important that we keep exercising. Amy from Dazzle Dance is a self employed friend of Walkley Primary School and has been delivering Cheerleading and Dance classes in school and running lunchtime and after school clubs for many years, working with Walkley pupils to put on shows and competitions.
Amy is unable to come into school to deliver her classes whilst school is closed to pupils. She has however, developed Dazzle Dance routines that you can do at home. Take a look at her video here.
