  • Walkley's own snow hero gets school open as usual.

Mon 19 Mar 2018 Mr Wallis
School is open as usual but the pavements around Walkley Primary School remain treacherous. Please take extra care on your way to school this morning. Mr Butler has been busy since the early hours today (and some of the day yesterday) clearing the school grounds of snow and preparing the pavements with grit-sand. Thanks Mr Butler, you are amazing!

  • World Book Day rearranged for Thursday 15th March

Tue 06 Mar 2018 Mr Wallis

World Book Day was due to take place on Thursday 1st March 2018, but unfortunately the celebration fell afoul of the adverse weather. Following the cancellation of World Book Day at Walkley we have rearranged the event for Thursday 15th March. Therefore, we invite the children and staff to come to school dressed as a character from a book. It can be a character from any book you wish. We would also like your child to bring in their favourite book into school on that day so they can share it with the other children in the class.

World Book Day celebrates the joy and value of books and reading, especially for children. To help get them started on their reading journey, every child will receive a £1 World Book Day Book Token.

The World Book Day book tokens are valid from Monday 26 February–Sunday 25 March 2018 and will be handed out in class on World Book Day Dress-up Day.

You can find out more about the books at worldbookday.com/books.
