What a fantastic response at Walkley to World Book Day. So many pupils and staff dressing up as characters from story books. This morning in assembly Mrs Sian quizzed us about characters from popular children's stories and explained how we can use our vouchers to get new books!
The children and staff looked fabulous. Take a look at Walkley's World Book Day Celebration:

World Book Day was due to take place on Thursday 1st March 2018, but unfortunately the celebration fell afoul of the adverse weather. Following the cancellation of World Book Day at Walkley we have rearranged the event for Thursday 15th March. Therefore, we invite the children and staff to come to school dressed as a character from a book. It can be a character from any book you wish. We would also like your child to bring in their favourite book into school on that day so they can share it with the other children in the class.
World Book Day celebrates the joy and value of books and reading, especially for children. To help get them started on their reading journey, every child will receive a £1 World Book Day Book Token.
The World Book Day book tokens are valid from Monday 26 February–Sunday 25 March 2018 and will be handed out in class on World Book Day Dress-up Day.
You can find out more about the books at worldbookday.com/books.
